The Full Shape of a Tongits Game

Tongits is played by three players using a standard 52-card deck. The dealer gets 13 cards; the other two each get 12. The goal is to empty your hand by forming valid melds — sets of three or more cards of the same rank, or runs of three or more consecutive cards in the same suit. On each turn you draw from

the central pile or take the card a previous player discarded, then discard one card yourself. You win by going Tongits — emptying your hand completely — or by calling a Fight when no one can challenge your point total. The player with the fewest unmatched card points at the end of a Fight wins the round.

Every Tongits deal uses a certified random shuffle engine. The deck distribution is not influenced by previous rounds, previous players, or bet size at the table.

Each dealt hand is recorded server-side the moment it is issued. You can request a hand log through support, and we will supply the full card sequence for that round.

Rule Consistency Across Tables

Whether you join a Tongits Three Player Table at peak hours or off-peak, the same meld rules, Fight call conditions, and burning mechanics apply without variation.

Disputed Tongits outcomes follow a clear escalation: live chat first, then a formal account review. We aim to resolve card-game disputes within one business day.

Tongits Glossary: Key Terms Defined

What is a Meld in Tongits?

A meld is a valid group of cards laid on the table — either a set of three or more cards sharing the same rank, or a run of three or more consecutive cards in one suit.

What does Tongits mean as a win condition?

Tongits is when a player empties their entire hand in one move by discarding their last card. It is an immediate win and generally outranks a Fight result.

What is Burning in Tongits?

Burning happens when the central draw pile runs out without any player calling a Fight or going Tongits. The player with the lowest unmatched card points at that moment wins.

What is a Fight Call in Tongits?

A Fight is a challenge declared by any player who believes their remaining unmatched hand points are the lowest. All players reveal their hands and the lowest total wins the round.

What are Dead Cards in Tongits?

Dead cards are unmatched cards still in your hand that you have not formed into a meld. Their face values are totalled when a Fight is called or when the deck burns out.

What is a Sagasa in Tongits?

Sagasa is a penalty ruling where a player who calls a Fight loses when another player goes Tongits during that same sequence, resulting in a higher point deduction for the challenger.

Common Tongits Rules Questions Answered

Yes. On your turn you can lay off one or more cards that extend an existing meld on the table — for example, adding a fourth card of the same rank to a set another player has already placed.

The dealer starts with 13 cards. The two non-dealing players each receive 12 cards. The remaining cards form the central draw pile that players pull from each turn.

Yes. If another player calls a Fight and your unmatched card total is lower than theirs, you win the round — even though you were not the one who initiated the Fight call.

A point tie in a Fight is typically resolved by the table rules in effect — at ftl888, the Tongits Three Player Table follows standard Filipino rules where the Fight caller loses a tie.

You can only take the discard if you immediately use it to form or extend a meld on the table. You cannot pick it up simply to hold it; an unused discard pickup is not permitted.

Each round has a winner based on Tongits, Fight result, or Burning. The session score accumulates across rounds, and the player with the most round wins — or the agreed point target — ends the session victorious.
